D’angelo Thompson Bio

D’angelo Thompson, is known for his mastery of beauty and quality aesthetic. He is also one of the entertainment industry’s most sought after artisans. Originally from Mississippi and grew up in Chicago. IL., D’angelo always dreamed of one day taking the beauty industry by the reigns both nationally and internationally, and over the past two decades has done so in a phenomenal way. It is his personal vision to elevate his profession by creating a global brand/community and empowering all to see and celebrate their beauty.

His training through fashion and fine art at Pratt Institute and mentors like Alfred Fornay, Byron Barnes, and Sherry Lee. He continued his training at The Make Up Institute of California, MAC Pro, Make Up Forever Pro/Academy Workshops, Lash Extension Certification through NYIB, and one on one lessons from Day Time Emmy Award Winning artist like Ingrid Okola in Basic FX. His command of color and natural eye for beauty has developed him into a consummate professional with an extensive career. He is also a mentor and educator, who is extremely grateful to be living his purpose while executing his passion(s).

As a professional, D’angelo’s expertise extends to beauty, bridal, editorial, commercial, film, promos, television, producing, writing, education, and private clients. As hair/makeup artist for guests and celebrities on The Wendy Williams Show from 2008 - 2011, D’angelo earned three Daytime Emmy nominations with a win for “Guest Hair” in 2010. Most importantly, in over two decades, D’angelo has developed a strong body of work that classifies him in the A-list amongst beauty professionals.

Currently working as a freelancer with brands like MTV/LOGO in promos for over 18 years, consulting for beauty brands in education and branding ( IL Makiage (2018), Glamour Dolls MakeUp, and Chic Studios (2017-2019), Law & Order SVU (Seasons 17, 18 ,19,20 as an additional and Key Makeup Artist Season 21)/ , Blue Bloods (Season 8 & 9 as an additional), Worst Cooks/Celebrity (2013-2017), Joy Mangano/IDL, HSN, Junket Productions, Netflix, Hulu, FX, HBO, Paramount+, and Pudding Boy Productions just to name a few.

As a producer, worked as an associate producer on short film SWEET THANG, written and directed by China Colston (2017), co-executive producer on feature film SOMETIMES WHY, written and directed by Dileepan Ganesan (2017) and co-executive producer on short film BURDEN written and directed by Nathan Hale Williams (2018).

As an Educator, D’angelo has been a guest instructor for The MakeUp Institute of California in San Francisco, CA, NYIB in Long Island, NY, Make Up Forever Pro/Academy, Make Up Designory (MUD) and Chic Studios in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA. He also founded and developed his own curriculum and applied it to a series of self-titled workshops. “The Business of Make Up” and “The Art Of Pivoting” is designed specifically for professionals to learn the creative, technical and entrepreneurial aspects.

Additionally, as a mentor, D’angelo created DTProCrew (Artist) (2010-2017) to enlist HMU professionals to fill in when he’s not available or supply additional freelance artists as needed on set. While mentoring and teaching set protocol, front and back of the office business procedures.

As a Philanthropist, D’angelo believes in creating a cycle of abundance. In other words, as an expression of his personal gratitude, he contributes to humanity by organizing yearly fundraisers to support AIDS research, Youth Initiatives, Domestic Violence Awareness, Social Justice, and LGBTQ Awareness & Safety.
